Thermal Assessment Services for Datacentres

The ever increasing demands being placed on datacentres has lead to higher heat dissipation by faster processors, more cooling and higher energy consumption. All at a time when power capacity limits are being approached, particularly in London.

To help customers optimise their datacentre environment, CCD and HP offers a Thermal Assessment Service to look at issues and potential problems particularly when introducing new systems, including Blade and Virtual Storage Environments, which have a much denser heat footprint. The service is also very relevant to customers who are already experiencing thermal problems or are unsure about the distribution and provisioning of existing total air conditioning capacity.

There are three levels of service to choose from:

HP Data Center Thermal Quick Assessment - HB691A1 (fixed price)

• Entry-level assessment of the datacentre cooling based on interviews with staff and HP observations of the datacentre cooling environment

HP Data Center Thermal Intermediate Assessment - HA536A1 (custom price)

• Designed for datacentres where some portion will be populated with high-density racks with power consumption approaching 3 kW per rack
• Includes all the features in the Thermal Quick Assessment plus Thermal modelling of below-floor thermal conditions

HP Data Center Thermal Comprehensive Assessment - HA536A1 (custom price)

• Recommended for datacentres where some portion is populated with high-density racks with power consumption exceeding 3.5 kW
• Includes all the features of the Thermal Quick Assessment plus 3D modelling of the entire datacentre supply and return air flows to optimise climatic conditions and reclaim capacity
