Think before you print

GREEN PRINTING TIPS
- Select printers or multifunction products that offer two-sided printing to reduce paper and energy usage.
- Use email where possible to communicate rather than fax or letter.
- Segregate office waste paper for recycling.
- Networking printers and copiers will decrease their idle time and provide for more cost-effective use of the equipment.
- HP offers free, postage-paid mailing envelopes, labels and boxes to return used HP inkjet and LaserJet print cartridges after use for recycling. Check inside new cartridge boxes or order them free online.
- When upgrading to more energy efficient products, check out HP’s trade-in, donate and recycling options for your used computer or printing hardware, batteries and HP printing supplies through programs like HP’s product recycling program.
- You may think you're saving money with cheap inks but in the long run, the cost of wasted time, ink, and paper can more than make up the difference.

- Print Cartridges
HP believes that the environmental performance of products begins at the design stage, so we design print cartridges that use fewer materials, use them more efficiently and utilize new materials that have less environmental impact. With our inkjet and LaserJet print cartridges, this includes:
- “Snap Cap” makes the HP 80 cartridge 25% more recyclable
- HP LaserJet print cartridge packaging contains 30 – 85% post consumer recycled content
- Redesigned multi-packs are made with 60% less material
- HP inkjet print cartridge boxes contain up to 80% recycled content
- More than 53% fewer parts in monochrome LaserJet cartridges since 1992

- Packaging
When it comes to designing product packaging with the environment in mind, HP looks beyond the box. For instance, a new package made with less material does more than reduce the amount of waste that’s disposed; it takes up less room during shipping. This means more print cartridges can be transported per shipment — reducing the amount of fuel used and greenhouse gases produced by delivery trucks.
A redesigned multi-pack made with just 60% less material can more than triple transportation efficiency.
